Immersive hot waxing emerges, hands down, as the optimal lubricant across all considerations. Companies like Molten Speed Wax and Silca have developed best-in-class wax formulations incorporating slippery additives into paraffin wax.​There is plenty of data and real-world results to confirm that chain waxing’s value in reducing friction results in ultrafast chains with the lowest possible resistance. Meaning, compared to the use of a wet lube, a cyclist riding a waxed chain will produce more speed, more power, and use less energy.
Less Wear
Chain wear, indicated by length gain, is a crucial consideration as worn chains can lead to expensive damage to cassettes and chainrings.
